Recently, Xianyang Polytechnic Institute selected 8 teachers to participate in a vocational education teacher exchange and training program at the Hong Kong Vocational Training Council (VTC) Peak Institute of Further Education.
During the training, the teachers engaged in a series of activities including lectures, site visits, and panel discussions. They visited VTC, the Hong Kong Design Institute, the Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology, and related training facilities. Industry experts shared cutting-edge insights on vocational education curriculum development, industry-education integration, the application of project-based learning (PBL), and the use of artificial intelligence in vocational training.
The delegation gained hands-on knowledge of Hong Kong's mature practices in training center operations, school-enterprise collaboration, student assessment, and skilled talent cultivation. They also explored the application of growth mindset in whole-person development education, as well as the connection between WorldSkills competitions and talent training. The experience provided a comprehensive view of the distinctive strengths of Hong Kong's vocational education system.
Drawing on their respective fields and day-to-day work, the participating teachers reflected on practical issues related to teaching reform, program development, and industry-education integration. Through in-depth discussions with Hong Kong vocational education experts and peers, they not only acquired advanced teaching concepts and methods but also helped build a bridge for vocational education exchanges between Shaanxi province and Hong Kong.
The teachers said they would turn what they learned into driving forces for their classroom practice, systematically apply the training outcomes in their own roles, and integrate the advanced experience of Hong Kong vocational education into their teaching.
The one-week training program was organized by the Shaanxi Association for the Promotion of Old Revolutionary Base Areas and the Shaanxi China Vocational Education Association, and hosted by the Vocational Training Council of Hong Kong.
