To further advance the construction of the China-Kazakhstan "Qinling Workshop" project and support the Belt and Road Initiative, Xianyang Polytechnic Institute (XYPI) dispatched three teachers including Zhu Tian and Cui Rui from its School of Medicine, together with four students to pay an academic visit at Kazakh-Russian Medical University in Kazakhstan. From April 30 to May 15, the team delivered professional training and conducted academic exchanges with faculty and students at the Kazakh-Russian Medical University.
The training program focused on appropriate traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) techniques and basic theories of Chinese herbal medicine. Tailoring the curriculum to local health conditions and public health needs, the teachers delivered a mix of theoretical lectures, practical demonstrations, and group-based hands-on sessions. They systematically taught skills including Tuina massage, moxibustion, cupping and scraping, identification and processing of Chinese herbal pieces, and clinical nursing and first aid. They also explained the TCM philosophy of "preventive treatment," which was well received by the participating students.

During the visit, teachers from XYPI and their counterparts at Kazakh-Russian Medical University jointly held a seminar on the China-Kazakhstan Qinling Workshop project. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on medical talent training, co-development of professional courses, integrated development of traditional medicine, and alignment with Kazakhstan’s education system and industry demands. The discussions have laid a solid foundation for the sustainable operation of the Qinling Workshop project at Xianyang Polytechnic Institute.
The four accompanying students, outstanding XYPI selections, took an active part in cultural study activities. They showcased the creation of handmade health products derived from mugwort, as well as a picture book for visually impaired children developed by XYPI students, performed the traditional health-preserving practice of Baduanjin, and demonstrated of featured TCM therapies including auricular point pressing and tuina massage. By promoting TCM culture from a youth perspective, they further strengthened friendship between young people in China and Kazakhstan.
The training and exchange visit has enriched the educational connotation of the China-Kazakhstan Qinling Workshop project and built a solid bridge for exchanges in medical vocational education and TCM culture between the two countries. Moving forward, Xianyang Polytechnic Institute will further deepen the development of the Qinling Workshop project. It will regularly organize cross-border training programs, academic seminars and faculty-student exchanges, nurture high-caliber medical professionals with global vision, and drive steady and in-depth progress in vocational education cooperation in medicine between China and Kazakhstan.
