Xianyang Polytechnic Institute (XYPI) has obtained official provincial approval for its Sino-Kazakh "Qinling Workshop" project, a landmark initiative under China's Belt and Road Initiative and vocational education "going global" strategy. The program, greenlit after rounds of reviews and provincial authorization, aims to cultivate medical professionals fluent in Mandarin and versed in Chinese technical standards for Kazakh enterprises through tripartite collaboration among institutions and industries.
First schemed in November 2024, the project involves partnerships with Kazakhstan's Belt and Road Research Institute, Kazakh-Russian Medical University, and Almaty Sino-Kazakh International Medical Center. It focuses on developing internationally recognized curricula and digital courseware for nursing, medical imaging, rehabilitation and etc., while pioneering a "Chinese language + vocational skills" training model for overseas implementation.
In April 2025, XYPI Vice President Wu Xujin led a delegation to Kazakhstan, finalizing agreements on curriculum co-development, faculty exchanges, and talent cultivation frameworks. The workshop was officially inaugurated during the visit, marking a critical step in cross-border vocational cooperation.
The approval positions XYPI as a key player in Shaanxi's efforts to expand vocational education influence across Central Asia, aligning with national strategies to enhance regional economic ties through bridging skills gaps, fostering cultural exchange and workforce development.
